Intro to Band - 5th Grade

Introduction to Band is a PRE-BAND class. Students will come to the band room as a class once a week to experience the instruments of the band. By the end of the year, students will have a great idea of what instrument they like, and very importantly, what instrument they did well on. Sixth grade is the year students can choose beginning band as an elective. They can confidently select an instrument based on their experience of Pre Band in Fifth Grade.

Middle School Band 1

Middle School Band 1 is open to any 6th grade student with an interest in playing a band instrument. Students will learn all aspects of music including performance, history, theory, ear training, worship, and music appreciation in order to be whole musicians. The band performs at the Christmas and Spring concerts. There are many opportunities for  advanced students to participate in additional performances. Students will be eligible for our Disneyland Trip and Forum Band Festival in April.

Middle School Band 2

Middle School Band 2 is open to 7th - 8th grade students who have at least one year of experience playing a band instrument. The level of music performed in this ensemble is challenging and engaging, requiring band members to be committed musicians. The Middle School Band performs at semester concerts, Veterans Chapel, MS night football game, and other school events as needed. Students in this group can audition for our after school Jazz Band, All State Band, and are eligible to participate in a spring trip to Disneyland, which includes a performance at a music festival.

High School Band

Any student who would like to develop musical skill or feels they missed the opportunity to learn an instrument is welcome to come aboard and learn in the high school beginning band. High school students learn quickly and progress quickly.  HS beginning band offers a great opportunity for any student interested in music to gain valuable musical experience in a supportive, friendly band setting where everyone is important and provides a valuable contribution to the entire band. No experience is necessary, only belief in oneself and a willingness to learn and develop skills is required. Concepts learned in this class can be applied in many other musical settings:   worship team, jazz band, marching band, guitar, and vocal music.
