NCS Homeschool Flex

NCS Homeschool Flex offers the same flexible, parent-led online curriculum as NCS Homeschool, while also giving students the opportunity to engage in the life of the school community.
In addition to completing coursework at home, students can participate in a variety of on-campus experiences, including athletics, fine arts programs, weekly chapel, and other in-person opportunities. This model is ideal for families who value the flexibility of homeschooling but also want meaningful connection, community, and extracurricular involvement.

  • How is Homeschool Flex different from regular Homeschool?

    Both programs use a parent-led homeschool academic model, but Homeschool Flex adds on-campus connection.

    In Homeschool, families complete learning fully at home with parent-led instruction and flexibility in pacing and engagement.

    Homeschool Flex includes the same parent-led academics, with added opportunities for students to participate in on-campus community, activities, and events alongside their peers. Homeschool Flex is designed for families who want the flexibility of homeschool with the option for campus connection and community.
  • What campus opportunities are available via Homeschool Flex?

    Campus opportunities for Flex students vary by grade level.

    Elementary Flex students may participate in select on-campus experiences, such as specials, chapel, school-wide events, recess, lunch alongside peers, and after-school clubs. These opportunities are structured to support supervision, connection, and a positive elementary experience.

    Secondary Flex students may participate in chapel, clubs, missions opportunities, athletics, fine arts, and school-wide events such as assemblies and dances. Some opportunities require a commitment to regular attendance, practices, rehearsals, or events.
    Families receive details about available opportunities and expectations prior to participation.
  • Are athletics and fine arts available to all students?

    All elementary students may participate in virtual clubs and virtual fine arts opportunities, such as creative showcases and community events. These experiences allow students to explore interests, build community, and engage creatively in an online setting.

    Elementary Flex students also have the opportunity to participate in select on-campus specials alongside other Flex students. These experiences are designed to support enrichment and community while remaining developmentally appropriate.

    All secondary students may participate in virtual fine arts opportunities, including events and creative showcases such as the NXNW Film Festival, Great Crusaders Cookoff, Crusaders Got Talent, and contributions to the Come and See Journal.

    Secondary Flex students have access to additional opportunities for participation in on-campus athletics and fine arts. This may include athletics, auditions for school plays and musicals, school film productions, the Eyewitness podcast, drama series, and other fine arts experiences as available. Students who choose to participate are expected to commit to required practices and games, as well as rehearsals and performances, just like on-campus students.

    In addition, NCS offers select secondary fine arts courses online, such as art, music appreciation, and piano.These courses are completed fully online and do not require on-campus participation.

    Availability may vary by grade level, course, and season, and families are encouraged to connect with NCS staff to confirm current offerings.
  • What specials are available for Elementary age Flex/Homeschool Flex students?

    Elementary age Flex and Homeschool Flex students may participate in on-campus specials, which can include Music, PE, Library, Spanish, and Technology. Students typically participate in two to four specials, depending on scheduling and availability. These are held on select days in the Flex schedule.

    Choosing the right NCS program depends on your student’s learning style, level of independence, and the amount of on-campus involvement your family is seeking.
     
    NCS Online is a good fit for families looking for school from home through a structured online learning
    experience. Students complete their academics online with clear expectations, regular engagement, and
    access to teacher support and virtual community.
     
    NCS Flex is ideal for families who want the same school-from-home academic experience, with
    added opportunities for on-campus community, activities, and connection.
     
    NCS Homeschool is designed for families who prefer a parent-led, fully asynchronous learning
    experience with greater flexibility and control over daily instruction.
     
    NCS Homeschool Flex combines parent-led academics with opportunities for on-campus community and
    engagement.
